Don't want to worry you - but Buttercups poops went long and spaghetti like after her spay to remove ovarian cysts. She sadly passed away that night. Hopefully you have better lucky with this little girl. Good luck! _________________ Here is the test to find whether your mission on Earth is finished: if you're alive, it isn't.

Ooh, gross. My poor girl doesn't have ovarian cysts - well, not obvious ones. But definitely something is wrong with her digestive system. I suspect bowl twist.
I can get small amounts of liquid diet into her and she urinates occasionally, but she really balks at solid foods. Its the long, black, spaghetti poops that I've never seen before. It is really strange.
She is being admitted to the vet tomorrow - they will keep her in all day, xray, check her out... _________________ -=[[ Lynlee ]]=-

hope they find the problem and its nothing to bad, but if its something inside that can't be good.
If it is bad an going to be a costly opp or something I recon you should put out a request for donations to help with her vet cost, I'm sure it will help heaps and you know how great everyone is here and if a lot of us put a little in it would go a long way, well I guess we will see late tomorrow, but hope it is not that bad , good luck _________________ ~ Eureka Cavies ACS Ballarat~ |

Ariel has died. I'm amazed she lasted as long as she did. Poor baby girl. She literally hadn't swallowed any food for days. Despite force-feeding her with:
Critical care
Vitamin C slurry
Gastrolyte
probiotics
various parasite treatments (on vet advice)
as well as giving her subcutaneous fluids regularly...which she hated.
Yesterday, she didn't swallow any of the CC I administered, even the stuff I gave her for breakfast was still in her mouth hours later.
Vet visit on Thursday was useless. I suggested an xray as I suspected Ariel had some sort of blockage...newbie vet gave a zillion reasons why this wouldn't be the case. Claimed it was parasites (despite the fact I'd treated Ariel for cocci when I first noticed she was ill and had diarrhoea).
So, this poor sweet girl is going in for an autopsy this morning...I really need to know if the problem is contagious or if it was physical. Three other girls from her enclosure are under quarantine again... _________________ -=[[ Lynlee ]]=-

okie dokie - just got a message from the vet. While she didn't have all the info, and I didn't actually speak to her, she did say that there was a lot of coccidia in Ariel...which really pisses me off because I treated ALL these rescues when they came in. I also gave her a dose last week when she had diarrhoea.
Needless to say, no adoptions for a couple of weeks now.
I am going to treat all my piggies with the Baycox. And this will be a huge job! _________________ -=[[ Lynlee ]]=-
