Welcome

Welcome to the Australian Cavy Sanctuary Community Messageboards
ACS is a non profit and non funded Community Purpose Organisation and is a combined effort by a dedicated team of individuals and volunteers across Australia, who are truly passionate about the welfare and awareness of guinea pigs.

IMPORTANT: Please read below before joining the messageboards.

Our Objectives are:

1: To educate the community on the correct care and humane treatment of guinea pigs.
2: A commitment to raising awareness and working to change the stereotypical low valued view guinea pigs have endured.
3: To supply aid and sanctuary to ill, injured, neglected, pregnant and found guinea pigs.
4: To re-home guinea pigs appropriately through adoption procedures maintained by the operation of shelters managed by ACS volunteers and staff.
5: To take whatever steps are necessary within the law to improve the quality of life, value and respect of all guinea pigs and to be the voice for those that are trapped in situations of abuse and mistreatment.
6: To support and actively endorse all aspects of animal welfare.

The ACS message board is a wonderuful place to share information and to meet fellow guinea lovers, small animal lovers and animal welfare supporters from around Australia. If you have a guinea pig question, or wish to share your knowledge relating to health, diet, housing, veterinary care, adoption or animal welfare, the message board is the place to do it! The message board is also used to advise volunteers and the public about upcoming events and educational/awareness displays. ACS hold regular events to share information about guinea pig welfare, if you attend you will be able to meet and greet with other ACS team members, volunteers and guinea pig mascots!!

The message boards are moderated by ACS’s founder and other shelter managers. Many of the wonderful volunteers are also members on the boards. Forum content is appropriate for all ages. We ask that all new members please read and agree to the forum guidelines once you have joined.

All members must keep in mind that we are a pro rescue/welfare organisation and would prefer that discussion regarding intentional breeding and intentional purchasing from or supplying to petshops be kept off the forums. We understand that breeding accidents can happen and for the health of your guinea pig we will support your questions and requests for advice, but all other questions/comments regarding deliberate breeding or buying will be removed or edited by the Moderating staff, at their discretion. For further information regarding why we do not support the above please contact us via the Australian Cavy Sanctuary website
